What gift can i buy for someone who has cancer?

My manager is leaving work due to her condition. We are both quite close, and would be quite nice to get her something on her last day.

dont know what to get. she is 42 years old

i was thinking either the following – (but if you have any other eccommendations please do say)

was thinking either

or beaded handbag (she likes bead – ie beaded necklace, earring etc) and likes handbags too.

she loves blue colour as she knows blue really suits her.

Just get her something she will like. Just get her a gift as if it was her birthday or something because having cancer does not really determine what gift you should get her. The hand bag sounds like a good idea. I am sure she will be happy no matter what you get her, its the thought that counts, and I hope she gets well soon.

Try to ask her what she want to do/have before she die. If you know what she likes most just give it to her.

A spa facial is tops in my book, second a pedicure and manicure, or a massage. Other than that, if she is spiritual, a book of uplifting prayers or stories.

the spa facial with you going with her I am sure would be nice and make a day of it and get lunch, just enjoy being friends and have a laugh. I am sure she will appreciate the thought and some time out with a good friend.

If I were you I would get her/him flowers, choclates, or anything to cheer her/him up. And maybe a card?

You don’t have to buy something. Do something for her instead. You can clean her house or car or plant something in her garden (if she got one) or things like that. I know people who had that condition and they loved gifts like that.

As a cancer patient I think I would opt for spa facial, as drugs play havoc with our skin!

And she is lucky to have such a thoughtful friend.

When I was diagnosed with cancer, the best gift I got was an enormous, super soft blanket. In those days curled up on the couch recovering so much better! That or maybe a super comfy robe and slippers. (Maybe in blue?)

When you’re sick and stuck and home feeling like crap, it’s SO nice to have things around that just make you feel good!

Good luck to your manager. She’s lucky to have such a nice employee!

I’m also a cancer patient. The best gifts I received were people who drove me to treatments and made me meals tailored to my personal tastes while I am in chemo – your taste for food really changes. I really needed that help and I owe a lot of people for it. It made life a lot easier.

My sister also got me a breast cancer beaded bracelet that is very subtle and very pretty that I wear every day. I don’t like being a walking advertisement for cancer but this one is subtle.

Cancer-related gifts are sort of a bummer – I would rather have the handbag -and actually got one for my birthday that I like. Books and reading material are a good idea – you really need them. Keep it light and upbeat and not about cancer.

The spa facial is a good idea but her doctor may not want her to have one if it risks infection – if she is having chemo. I was only able to resume massages after clearing it with my doctor. Risk of infections from manicures and pedicures make those a little risky too. It depends on the type of treatment she is getting.

I am in that boat and I love plants. Watching them grow and live. I don’t like cut flowers cause they die and I don’t like watching them die. I like your idea of the bag and spa. The reason I like the spa is because when your in pain a massage really helps. Mentally and physically. Your an angel to research and ask this question. Most people put those who are dying especially with cancer to the side. I am so grateful that there are still good people out there with hearts.

One person stated plants- in some cases this is bad b/c of parasites.

When someone may be in a stage of dying I try to give gifts that are intangible and stick in the heart. I started this practice after I realized all the gifts I’d given my mother before she passed (of cancer) that I had to either take them home, give them away or donate them because I had no use, memory or space for them.

                                    If you are a musician/writer you can write/play her a song…

I wish her well and that she will come back. Please tell her to tell herself good stories about her life when she thinks. The best thing we can do is try to maintain a good state of mind. These people tend to live longer and have faster recovery…
                                    Blessings.
